Team Overview
The Business Controls team is responsible for identifying, measuring, and mitigating risk for the Global Treasury Solutions (GTS) and Leasing businesses around the world. The team works in partnership with Technology & Operations, Operational Risk, Compliance, Audit and other key support groups to provide senior leadership with an end-to-end understanding of risks for our global business. The group acts as the primary link between the business and the control and infrastructure areas that support GTS and Leasing globally and helps foster two-way communication between all groups involved in a multi-billion-dollar business operating in more than 40 countries. The team drives action to address risk in a range of areas, from ownership of the Risk Control Self Assessment process to specialized end-to-end reviews of business and product groups in support of broader risk and control strategy for the firm.
The team has personnel on the ground in the US, Asia, EMEA and Latin America. Product areas covered by the team on a global basis include:
* Leasing Products
* Treasury Sales and Product Management
* Liquidity Products
* Infrastructure Channels and E-Payments
* Payment and Receipts Product
* Card Products
* Public Sector Banking
* Global Custody
* Trade Finance.
Detail on the Business Controls Specialist/Manager Role
The role reports to the Global Head of Business Controls for GTS and Leasing. Primary responsibilities of the role include:
* Helping the business navigate the firm's risk and control groups and processes and being the first point of contact for any queries to and from the key control functions
* Liaison with other functions - fosters and manages productive relationships with Front Office, Operations, Compliance, Operational Risk, Legal and Internal Audit. Responds to queries on behalf of the business.
* Ensure the management and control environment underpinning the business is adequate and effective
* Leading co-ordination of all our Operational Risk requirements, including the Risk and Control Assessments for GTS and Leasing, new product approval, assisting in running of risk committees and forums, management of open risk, audit and compliance actions, risk event logging and resolution
* Produce management information to support the governance framework and perform analysis to identify trends and issues requiring action by the business
* Work with internal and external auditors and regulators to plan reviews and monitor progress and outputs
* Ensure that all future risk and control activities are known, that appropriate owners are identified, and that issues are shared with senior management for resolution.
* Oversight of risks arising in key projects impacting GTS and Leasing
* Help manage implementation of company procedures across the business end to end
* Deliver strategic and tactical controls reviews
* Monitor, analyze, and report to senior management on key risks, key indicator breaches, and risk incidents, losses and refunds.
